38th Annual Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival – June 13 & 14 2026
Aaaannnddd….we’re back! The Toronto Island regatta is one we always look forward to, as it’s such a nice place to go for a day of Dragon Boat racing. But this year is a little different, as Sharon’s boat is not present. Instead, she’s substituting (when needed) for the Aloha boat. Nonetheless, we got up at 5AM, got our food supplies in order and headed down to the islands. Thankfully, there wasn’t any World Cup game scheduled for today, so there were no (added) road closures and no hoards of tourist. Yet.
There were about 100 teams present, with their entourages, and the usual amount of food vendors (yay stinky tofu) and support personnel. Despite these thousands of people, the island don’t really feel busy. There’s a lot of land to go around. Later in the morning though, when the tourists started arriving…then it got busy. But we got to go back home, so no sweat there. What a beautiful day it was, and hopefully tomorrow Aloha gets a chance to go for a medal. Or the Wilcox Warriors (another one of coaches boats). We’re just having a great time here!

Rise and shine!

We got the perfect place to set up camp for the day
