Blood Donation Day No. 2

#CanadasLifeline

It’s that time of year again so today Sharon, a few Tribal team members and yours truly went to Canadian Blood Services up in Richmond Hill to donate blood.

Unfortunately not everyone arrived at the same time so there’s no group picture of the event. It was quite easy-going, and as a first-time donor I had no issues before, during or after the bloodletting. Sharon however…forgot to drink enough beforehand so she had the curtains close on her just after she donated. Good thing there’s plenty staff around to take care of her because I was not aware of anything while I was having my life juice sucked out of me just around the corner.

All in all it went remarkably fast. Quick snack and plenty of fluids afterwards while waiting on the rest and comparing war stories with other donors whose only conviction to donate is the free snacks. I get it. Free snacks are a good thing. Feeling like we’ve made our 16th century barber-surgeon ancestors proud, we set off for some well-deserved foods afterwards and Pho Pad Thai in Markham did not disappoint. This was a good day!

Anything we can do to contribute to help those in need is a good thing, and blood is very much needed – contact Sharon to join the Tribal Blood Donors group!
