Alkame Dragon Boat Festival in Christie Lake in Halmilton – September 20th 2025
Because of an algae-bloom the season closer could not be held at Christie Lake (sad face) but brought us back to Hamilton – which is a fine venue on its own.
It was a beautiful day today with quite some wind but that didn’t seem to hinder the race times at all, as Tribal DBC recorded a fast 200m at 55:92 and an even more impressive 2K at 10:28:75! The only team standing between them and medals all around were…Minions. Or Holy Mac-Row…but they are Uni kids so not a fair comparison…to be fair 😉
It was a very full program today with 200 meter heats and finals, back-it-down (reverse 200m), Mystery Race (single handed paddling 100m) and then a grueling 2K final.
The team was in great shape though so on Coach’s birthday celebration they treated him -and themselves- to a silver medal in A Division at the 200 meter race, only losing from those wretched Minions. What a fantastic result!
And that wraps up the season! It was a great season even though Sharon had to miss out on the Montreal Nationals but then again the entire summer was a roller coaster so all in all: a great year with meaningful results. 2026 here we come!
PS: there will be more posts over the winter so don’t forget to check back sometime or…here’s an idea…subscribe! You’ll never miss a thing.

And we’re back in Hamilton!
